Physical Overview
The TiVo Series2 DVR is a very nondescript device. There isn't much detail on the front panel of the DVR except for two LEDS, a remote receiver, and the TiVo logo. Here's a picture of the front of the DVR:
The rear of the DVR looks as follows:
From left to right, there is the AC-In connector, Phone Line input, Control Out/IR, Control Out/Serial, USB, Left/Right Audio Outputs, Composite Video Outputs, S-Video Output, Left/Right Audio Inputs, Composite Video Input, S-Video Input, Ch. 3 / 4 Switch, RF-In, and RF-Out. There are no component input or output jacks on the back of the DVR. You will not be able to record HD content with the DVR.
Here's a picture of the remote control. You'll notice the buttons are fairly self explanatory. The remote control makes navigating through the user interface a breeze. All menu items can be selected and drilled down by pressing the right button while going up the menu items is a simple matter of pressing the left cursor button.
Pressing the TiVo button on the top of the control will always bring up the main TiVo Central menu. More on this later on.
