Performance Benchmarks
We ran a series of benchmarks for the Toshiba Portege M205. It performs comparably with many Pentium M systems out on the market. A key differentiator between this system and many other Tablets is the inclusion of the NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 chipset. We'll see how this graphics chipset performs on this notebook. We did not run any communication tests such as tests of the Bluetooth stack and the Wi-Fi components. We'll come back and hopefully look at this later on.
Sandra Pro 2003 - CPU Arithmetic
The IBM ThinkPad T40 and the Toshiba M205 both have the same processor and thus the scores are comparable beating the slower 1.4GHz Pentium M processor in the Gateway 450X.
Sandra Pro 2003 - CPU Multimedia
As with the CPU Arithmetic results, the 1.5GHz Pentium M processors on both the IBM and the Toshiba systems are comparable.
Sandra Pro 2003 - Memory Bandwidth
The Toshiba M205's faster DDR memory clearly shows through in the memory bandwidth performance - be aware that the X axis doesn't start at 0 thereby showing a differential that is greater than it should be.
PC Mark 2002
PC Mark 2002 confirms that the M205 runs comparably to the IBM ThinkPad T40 in CPU performance but leads in memory performance.
3D Mark 2001 SE
The on board NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 dusts the ATI mobility chipsets of the IBM ThinkPad T40 and the Gateway 450 X.

Sandra Pro 2004
This is the first time we've actually used the Sandra Pro 2004 benchmarks. I know - it's been some time since we've run system tests. So to that end, we've included only the performance charts that Sandra shows after each benchmark
