Setup

The setup details for the SN85G4 has been moved to a separate article since this is the first AMD Athlon 64 review here at WhiningDog. Here's a brief outline of what the setup process was like for the SN85G4:

  1. Take apart the components:
    1. Remove the case cover
    2. Remove the hard drive cage
    3. Remove the ICE heatsink
  2. Prepare the Athlon 64 processor
    1. Spread the thermal grease onto the processor and to the ICE heatsink
  3. Install the Athlon 64 processor
  4. Install the ICE heatsink
  5. Install the memory sticks
  6. Install the hard drive and DVD ROM drive
  7. Install the AGP graphics card
  8. Close up the case
  9. Install an Operating System

 

Now that seems simple enough doesn't it? As I mentioned earlier, we'll go into further detail in a separate "Build It!" article for the Shuttle SN85G4 system.

The following are chipset settings. You can clock the CPU FSB from 200MHz up to 280MHz in 1 MHz increments. You can also modify the PCI bus speeds from 66MHz to 100MHz in 1 MHz increments.
