Introduction

It's been a long time coming and it's finally here - our first review of an AMD Athlon 64 system and it's none other than a system from Shuttle - the XPC SN85G4. Shuttle has continued to define the entire Small Form Factor (SFF) category with their XPC line of systems. The XPC SN85G4 continues that path by being the first small system that houses the AMD Athlon 64 processor. Who would have thought that you'd find one of the most powerful processors in the world in such a tiny box? Does Shuttle succeed in continuing to redefine this category? Packaging

The Shuttle XPC SN85G4 comes packaged in the now usual Shuttle box. The packaging comes with a handle on top for carrying purposes and clearly showcases the amount of detail that the marketing department at Shuttle places on these XPC systems. Opening the box up, you'll see that the SN85G4 is packaged in the same manner as other Shuttle systems. The case is protected by Styrofoam padding and the accessories are stored in a box placed along the side of the packaging. Here are shots of the box and the interior:
