Introduction
Shuttle has continued to define the Small
Form Factor (SFF) Barebones Personal Computer Market by providing solutions
for different market
segments. The SB52G2 XPC is a model that goes against the trend of many
other SFF systems. Offering dual PCI slots, dual Ethernet ports and no
AGP slot, the SB52G2 attempts to satisfy a different audience while utilizing
the form factor that has made a success out of Shuttle. What is this
audience you might ask? Shuttle focuses the SB52G2 towards the business
market in areas such as work desktop machines and server farms where
high speed Ethernet connections are more important than graphics capabilities
or sound. Does this work and is there a market for this system? Let’s
find out.
Packaging
The following are pictures of the packaging for
the SB52G2. Nothing new here except different marketing images on the
box cover. The internal
packaging is still clean and simple. There is one cardboard box containing
the manuals, accessories, and CD drivers, a power cable coiled up and
the barebones system itself. The case is wrapped in plastic for protection.
