Introduction
It’s been a few months since I last took a look at the Small Form
Factor (SFF) PC market. During the last year, Shuttle Computer Group
has released a dizzying number of systems using both the Intel Pentium
4 processor and the AMD Athlon XP processor. With each release of an
XPC system, Shuttle continually raises the bar in this market category.
I thought it would be a good time to go back and take a look at a couple
of XPC models that have been on the market for some time now. Over the
next several weeks, you will see three different XPC models reviewed
for the Intel platform here at WhiningDog. (I know, we’ll get around
to doing more AMD based reviews one of these days!) The first model we’ll
take a look at is the XPC SB51G which is the black finished edition of
the popular SB51G barebones model. I chose the black finish because this
system would ultimately serve as a future Home Theater Personal Computer.
We’ll have more on that project some other time. For now, let’s
check out this 845GE based system has to offer shall we?
