The P4-ITX test setup was as follows:

Setup 1:

  • P4-ITX motherboard
  • Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz 533 FSB Pentium 4 processor with HyperThreading Technology
  • 30GB Maxtor 7200 RPM Hard Drive
  • 16X Toshiba DVD ROM Drive
  • 512MB DDR 333 Crucial Memory
  • S3 ProSavage8 AGP 4X Integrated Graphics
  • HyperThreading enabled

System 2:

  • Intel D845GERG2 MicroATX motherboard
  • Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz processor with 533FSB and HT technology
  • 1 stick of Crucial PC2700 DDR memory totaling 512MB
  • 30GB Maxtor 7200 RPM Hard Drive
  • Toshiba DVD-ROM drive
  • Intel Extreme Graphics integrated chipset
  • HyperThreading enabled

Setup 3:

On some of the tests, we compared results with the VIA EPIA M10000 board that we reviewed last year.

Application Benchmarks

Multimedia Content Creation 2003

The following are the ETestingLabs benchmarks found on ZDNet's PC Magazine. We are still using the previous versions of the application benchmarks but will be using the new 2004 ones for the next motherboard/system review. As you can see here, the P4-ITX suffers a significant performance degradation compared to the Intel MicroATX D845GERG2 motherboard.

System Benchmarks

PC Mark 2002

FutureMark's PC Mark benchmarks test different components on a computer system. The 2002 version has a breakdown of scores while the 2004 version also provides a weighted final score shown below. In both cases, the P4-ITX performs below the 845 system. Notice the significantly lower memory performance of the P4-ITX.
