Introduction
We've all been impressed with the VIA Mini-ITX motherboard form factor. Who can't be? These small motherboards have contributed to the growing small form factor personal computer market - not to mention a cult following of do-it-yourself system builders. The manufacturer you see the most when it comes to the Mini-ITX form factor is naturally VIA Technologies with their EPIA line of motherboards. However a common complaint of these EPIA systems is the weak performing CPU found on them. Although the VIA processors run very cool, they are not suitable for computationally intensive applications. We here at WhiningDog have always been hoping that someone would manufacture a board that supported the high end CPUs such as the Intel Pentium 4 or the AMD Athlon processor. Our wish has finally been answered in the form of the Insight Solutions P4-ITX motherboard. The P4-ITX marries the Mini-ITX form factor with the Intel Pentium 4/Celeron processor and delivers a whole new class of performance for these diminutive systems. Though targeted for embedded applications, the P4-ITX is also a great choice for high end HTPCs, Media Servers, and Small Form Factor systems. Come on in and join us as we review the Insight Solutions P4-ITX Mini-ITX motherboard.
