Today we’re going to look at the Asus P4GE-V Motherboard which
is based on the Intel 845GE chipset supporting the Intel Pentium 4 Processor
running at a 533 MHz Front Side Bus. Though the 845 has now been largely
superceded by the Canterwood and Springdale chipsets, you might find
an older 845 board an appealing investment if you have no plans jumping
onto an 800 MHz FSB Pentium 4 or use for Serial ATA. Asus has always
been a leading manufacturer of motherboards and computer peripherals.
Let’s jump right into the P4GE-V and see how it compares with other
845 systems.
Packaging
The Asus P4GE-V motherboard comes in a fairly
unassuming box with your basic set of cables, manuals, and CDs to get
you going. The motherboard
itself is constructed using an orange/yellow PCB – somewhat boring
looking compared to other motherboards out there these days. Here are
some pictures of what you get out of the box.
