Continuing in our roundup of Intel E7505 motherboards,
we take a look at the Iwill DP533 motherboard. This board has been around
for some time now and is seen as a favorite among the XEON community alongside
the Supermicro boards. Iwill has traditionally been friendly to those
who like to modify BIOS settings and push their components to the limit
whereas Supermicro takes a more conservative approach to system configurations.
I was interested to see how Iwill would perform in the server market given
the fact that their name isn’t as popular in this particular market
as Supermicro or Tyan. I’ll be upfront in this article and say that
I was initially skeptical on an Iwill manufactured server board. My past
experiences with Iwill have not always been stellar so I was hoping that
the DP533 would change that assessment. However there are many of you
out there who have had a great deal of success with Iwill products and
in particular with the DP533. Given that, I was more than willing to see
if the DP533 would be a solid board for a dual XEON setup. Let’s
take a look at this huge board and see if Iwill can deliver.
