Overview
Let's spend some time going over the physical characteristics of the SilverStone SST-B032F.
The Front
Here are pictures of the front door to the SST-B032F. There are four slots on the lower half of the case door with the top slot providing access to a 3.5" drive bay. The bottom three slots have a mesh covering behind them so they serve no practical purpose other than being a decorative piece. You need to swing the doors open to reach the 5.25" drive bays.
As you can see, SilverStone placed six 5.25" external bay coverings - that's right.. six externally accessible 5.25" drives. This is great for gamers or multimedia folks that need drive bay access to feature. You can install a number of optical drives, an LED panel, and specialized I/O panels for your system with this many external drive bays. Note that SilverStone doesn't include accessories to help adapt 3.5" drives to fit these 5.25" drive bays. The adapter rails usually come from the hard drive manufacturers.
One thing to note - though there are vents on the front drive bay panels, there is no room for a front case fan. SilverStone's solution was to add a case fan enclosure to the right side of the case - blowing air directly at the middle side of the front of the case. SilverStone doesn't package a case fan so you'll need to pick one up yourself if you want the added air flow. Here is a shot of the side panel with the fan vents.
Once you remove the right panel, you'll see the fan enclosure which can be opened by simply pressing a tab.
The case has a side lock to secure the front door.
The side panels
Here are pictures of the side panels.
The sides are held securely in place by plastic locks at the rear. To unlock the panels, push the clips in the opposite direction The build quality of these clips are somewhat of a concern - especially if you find yourself removing the side panels frequently. Every time we unlocked the case, the clips felt like they might break under the pressure. However, we must stress that it didn't happen so we might be concerned about nothing here.
Rear of the case
Here is a picture of the back of the case.
Here's a close up shot of the opening for the power supply and the I/O Shield.
There are two vents for rear case fans but alas.. no case fans themselves come bundles. Bummer..
And finally, there's plenty of expansion slots for your motherboard.
And finally, you'll notice this interesting sticker on the back of the case. These are illustrations on how to unlock the side panel locks. As you'll soon see, there are illustrations all over the interior of the case to aid you in your PC setup. Good stuff!
