The Bluetake Wireless Printing Kit certainly works as advertised. Both Bluetooth adapters were easy to set up and the software was painless to install. We tested the Bluetake BT210 Printer Adapter on our Hewlett Packard OfficeJet 7130 All-In-One Printer.
The HP software drivers installed effortlessly and we were able to print documents within five minutes of installing everything. That was quick! Perhaps we've had such low expectations from other wireless networking equipment that we weren't ready for something that actually worked out of the box.
We did have problems with the customized HP software which normally interfaces with the OfficeJet 7130 via the USB port. The software is normally executed when any of the printer's functions are accessed but with the Bluetooth adapter in the way this did not happen. However, this was not crucial for our purposes. It should be noted that the 7130's ability send scanned images to the computer will not work over Bluetooth. Remember that the BT210 provides profiles for printer capabilities - not scanning or faxing. You will still need to connect the HP 7130 directly to your PC via a USB cable if you want to use functions other than printing. This is an important fact that is often overlooked by many who have MFPs (Multi-function Printers). If you just have a standalone printer, then this is not a problem at all.
It's important to note that if you already have Bluetooth on your home PC, then all you will need is to obtain the Bluetake BT210 USB Adapter. If you don't have Bluetooth, then the BT007X also provides the added advantage of turning your PC into a Bluetooth hub. You can offer a variety of services from your PC such as file transfer, PIM synchronization, audio headset support, and keyboard/mouse support. We tested the BT210 USB Adapter with another adapter from Belkin and both Bluetooth adapters were able to communicate with one another without any difficulties.
