I was looking and looking; hoping beyond
hope that someone would come out with the dream gadget – the all-in-one mobile phone that did
it all! I thought that the Motorola MPx200 was going to be the light
in the darkness but as it turned out – it was more the candlelight
in the darkness as opposed to the blinding light that I was desperately
looking for. So the search continued with hope fading fast. However there
were rumors out there of a new force – one that would blow the
minds of all of those disenchanted with current all-in-one devices. Would
there be hope renewed with this rumor? Having been disappointed time
and time again, I wasn’t going to put much faith in what I was
seeing in the news or hearing through the rumor mills. I had to just
see it to believe it. Ok – enough of this metaphorical talk – I’m
here today to talk about the coolest Smartphone to have hit the market
as of yet – it’s none other than the Handspring/PalmOne Treo
600. Over the last week, I’ve been using the new Treo 600 as my
primary mobile phone and personal digital assistant and my friends – the
smart phone has finally come of age! Let’s take a look at this
beauty.
Packaging
I obtained the Treo 600 designed for use
on the Sprint PCS network. The Sprint version of this handset is black
compared to the silver trim
found in the other Treo 600's for T-Mobile and AT&T. PalmOne took
approximately a week to ship out the Treo 600 although I had expected
an even longer wait considering the high demand for this phone. The Treo
comes in a standard white Sprint PCS box that is common with nearly all
Sprint PCS mobile phones.
