Physical Overview
The EX-Z3 is a definitely a small camera – there is no doubt
about it. However – when compared to earlier versions of the
Exilim – it is a tad bit larger in depth. Unfortunately we do
not have an earlier model to compare against. However, we do have some
pictures of the camera compared to a small credit card sized card.

The rear of the USB cradle has the ports for the AC adapter and the
USB cable to connect to your computer. There are two indicator lights
on the front of the USB cradle and two buttons used for establishing
a USB connection to your computer and for starting and stopping a slideshow.
The Z3 is approximately the same length
and height as the original Exilim cameras however it is nearly twice
as thick as the previous
model – mostly due to the inclusion of an optical zoom lens.
The EX-Z3 uses a Pentax lens capable of performing F2.6 to 4.8, f=5.8
to 17.4mm. The EX-Z3 has a 3X optical zoom and a 4X digital zoom for
a total of 12X when both are used in combination.
The rear LCD display is perhaps the most striking feature of the Exilim
camera. The EX-Z3 sports a 2inch TFT screen capable of 354x240 resolutions.
The display is extremely bright and vibrant and all the menus are easy
to view both indoors and outdoors. No other small camera has such a
wonderful display! Reviewing the pictures that you took on the 2inch
screen is an utter joy. Heck the screen is larger than the screen on
my Canon G3!
