During MacWorld 2002 in NYC, Apple introduced new
versions of the iPod that not only had larger storage capacities but also
added some features that solidied the iPod as the MP3 player to beat.
Though Apple introduced versions of the iPod for Windows operating system,
I decided to get the Mac version of the 10GB iPod to replace my original
5GB iPod. Let's take a look at how a really awesome mp3 player just got
better.
1.1 The Package
Our 10GB iPod was ordered directly through the Apple
website and came to us within 5 business days of ordering. For some more
money, Apple offers an engraving service to add a message to the back
of the iPod.
The Exterior Box
Other Sides
The iPod is packaged in several parts: the outer
portion of the box is a simple cardboard shell using the now familiar
gray and white Apple colors and pictures of the iPod. Inside the shell,
you have a box that opens up in two (feels a lot like working with an
origami piece) revealing the iPod and all the accessories.
The interior box

The iPod's packaging is quite simple and elegant
- all the accessories are bundled in small bags and the iPod itself is
wrapped in a clear plastic wrapping. You find a bundled CD which provides
you with the latest version of iTunes for the OS X or OS 9. If you already
have Jaguar (OS X 10.2) then you won't need to install anything. Let's
go over some of the specs of the iPod before continuing.
