Review of the iPod mini Armband

So you've got the new iPod mini and you want to carry it with you all around - especially when you're out jogging or working out at the gym. Sure the iPod mini is small but one deadly drop to the ground and say bye bye to that iPod. What to do you might ask? Well pop that mini into the new iPod mini Armband. That's right - as if there weren't enough accessories for the iPod - out comes an Armband from Apple that is essentially a neoprene belt combined with a belt clip.
The iPod mini Armband comes in the following simple packaging.
Once you open up the box, you'll find a simple plastic wrapper for the armband and a small instruction pamphlet on how to use this product.
The armband is made of neoprene and uses a Velcro strip to hold the iPod in place around your arm.
To use the armband, you slip the band through the open slot and then wrap the band back on itself and secure the Velcro strap into place.
The iPod snaps securely into place on the clip. Do not slide the iPod down the clip. Once the iPod is place, wrap the armband around your arm and you're all set.
The armband felt very comfortable around my arm with the iPod mini held securely in place. The real test was using the armband while jogging on the treadmill. A simple trip down to the gym revealed that the armband was up to the task of staying in place while I moved about. The only major concern surrounding the armband is the use of Velcro since Velcro tends to wear out over time. It's too early to tell how long the lifespan of this product is as of yet.
There are other alternatives to carrying the iPod mini while performing physical activities. You can hook a lanyard around the bottom of the mini since there are two notches for you to work with and then wrap the mini around your arm or your neck. However the main benefit of using the armband is having the iPod securely attached to your body minimizing the amount of movement that is subjected to the device.
