Introduction

It seems like everywhere you look there’s always some article about some DVD copyright lawsuit or about how the proliferation of file sharing has hurt CD/DVD sales etc. What has really helped to spur this on is a combination of readily available software to copy DVDs and the ever plunging prices of DVD burners. Despite all the hardware and software that is available, many individuals still do not know the proper steps that are needed to perform DVD backups. Without going into the legal ramifications of such a practice, I wanted to spend some time exploring one method of backing up DVDs onto conventional DVD5 media. I’ve used a number of software packages over the last year ranging from freeware applications to 321 Studios DVDXCopy. Today we’re going to look at a freeware software application called DVD Shrink which does an amazing job at backing up your favorite DVDs. Let’s get started shall we ?
