A Few More TechXNY TidBits

So on my second two hour lunch trip to TechXNY today
I did another once through the entire area and only saw a few things which
stood out from yesterday. The highlight for my own personal needs came
when I saw a really cool wireless keyboard and mouse setup from the folks
over at Gyration.com. But first off, let's start this off by taking a
look at some of the Tablet PC stuff that's been talked about all week
long on some of the sites out there. Here are various pics of the Tablet
PC OS on a large flat panel screen in the Microsoft Pavillion.

I stopped by at the Lian Li area again to take closer
pictures of the cases that I showed here yesterday. Hopefully this time
you can see the LED readouts on one of the new cases showing the temperature
readings of the internals.

And finally, I found the new love of my life for
my HTPC at home. Gyration.com introduced their new wireless keyboard and
mouse combination which is targeted to business users and also HTPC enthusiasts.
The keyboard is your standard wireless RF keyboard though it's nice and
small. The real kicker was the mouse. It's held like a small gun with
a trigger like grip. You hold down a button and move your hand. As you
move your hand, the cursor moves. Buttons on top of the mouse are for
the usual left / right combinations. This is a great addition for those
who have HTPC's but would rather not use a remote control like the ATI
Remote Wonder and who don't really like the Logitech wireless solution.
The mouse sits in a recharger stand when not in use and supposedly can
give about a week's work of charge if used an average of 8 hours a day.
I tried it out and absolutely loved it. There's a very slight lag between
the hand movements and the cursor movements so it may not be quite suitable
for gaming environments. The MSRP for this combo was supposedly set for
around 79 dollars and should be available in August. Check out their website
at www.gyration.com. In the meantime,
check out the pics of their kb and mouse. EDITORS NOTE: It looks like
the price that I was quoted by the PR guy there wasn't correct.. or at
least not yet. Someone pointed out to me that on the website, the combo
prices were significantly higher than 79 bucks. That's a real bummer.
Here's the direct site to
buy this stuff should you want one.

And finally I end the day with a quick picture of
an Itanium 2 system at the Intel booth and a picture of a PocketPC enabled
Phone for Voicestream due out in a few months. That's about it! Enjoy!
