Introduction
The following article provides an overview of the construction of the MSI MEGA 180 Small Form Factor PC. The MSI MEGA series are unique in the SFF world for their integration of home audio and personal computing. Join us as we continue our Build It series with the MSI MEGA 180 Small Form Factor PC.
The Parts
In order to put the system together you'll of course need the MSI MEGA 180 barebones system. This system has been rather hard to find thus far but hopefully this will improve over time. Our test system consisted of the following components: MSI MEGA 180 Barebones System
- AMD Athlon XP 3000+ processor
- 2 sticks of Crucial 256MB DDR 400 Memory (although the nForce2 on the MEGA 180 supports DDR333)
- 1 IBM 30GB 7200 RPM IDE Hard Drive
- 1 Liteon 16X DVDROM Drive
- Artic Silver Thermal Grease
You will need some extra tools to help you with your build process:
- Straight edge for applying the grease
- Screwdriver - preferably with a long thin neck
- Some room to put this system together!
